"The Chopper" is the 22nd episode of Season Two of the FOX television show Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It originally aired on May 10, 2015 to 2.56 million viewers.
Gina is distracted by her cell phone and nothing can make her look up. Jake makes a bet to the first person to make her look away. These shenanigans involve dancing, Charles getting hit with a stapler, lying that the former president passed away and Rosa blowing an airhorn (none of which work). Then just when it seems like it's all over she looks at Terry who (as a joke) changes his Facebook relationship status to "it's complicated" and starts dancing until he get's a phone call from his angry wife.
Jake gloats over Carl Mather's death during a meeting. Mather was one of four criminals who stole $21 Million from an armoured car depot. The gang was caught but the money was never found. All four of the guys were released in the first semester and now one of them has shown up dead, making Jake believe someone's still after the money. Ray tells Jake that he can't be sure that the four were connected to the money theft especially with Madeline Wuntch constantly watching over them. Jake then says he wants to catch the remaining three with a knife in his mouth and two machine guns in his hands.
Terry Tells everyone they'll be hosting a field trip for the Brooklyn park magnet school and that he needs his twins to get into pre-school. Rosa suggests them taking turns in going to school but Terry says his wife said "no". Terry explains that he needs the event to be kid-friendly and no violence can be tolerated. Ray, Jake and Charles are in an apartment where another one of the Fulton Street Four has been murdered. Ray tells Jake and Charles that Wuntch wants to give the case to major crimes but Jake refuses to let that happen. Terry Brings the kids into the precinct and shows them around but Amy and Gina creep the kids out.
Ray, Jake and Charles walk into Wuntch's office where Ray tells Wuntch about the Fulton Street Four but Jake tries unsuccessfully to talk Wuntch out of the case only to be given full investigation. Jake and Charles determine that one of the Fulton Street four is trying to kill off the other three so that he can keep the money for himself. Jake starts with Reggie Bludsoe and Ray tells them that he's including himself in the case due belief that Wuntch wants Jake and Charles to fail. Jake tries to make away with his Lamborghini but Ray says that he changed it to a sedan. Terry's in the meeting room with the kids who are taking a test. Amy lies about being great with kids until Terry walks away with Dr. Susman. Gina refuses to help Amy and Rosa suggests that she shows them a dead body and the kids are immediately excited.
Jake, Ray and Charles enter an apartment where they enter a room with an open suitcase and a fake wall with Reggie Bludsoe. Terry and Susman are finally bonding when they walk into the meeting room with the pictures of the two murdered Fulton Street Four members on the wall. Dr. Susman takes the kids out of the room and leaves Terry enraged. Back at the apartment Reggie tells, Jake, Charles and Ray he and the other three members of the FFF had a key that to a safe containing the $21 Million and that all four keys were required to open the safe. Ray tells Jake and Charles that Michael D'Angelo's place is no less than two hours away and refuses at first to take a chopper until he realises that Wuntch will crucify him for not taking one. Charles is excited that Jake actually ordered a chopper. The trio take the chopper and after some shenanigans Jake reveals that Wuntch said they could have whatever was necessary to solve the case. Ray is worried that he will be fired if they don't get D'Angelo but Jake tells him that if they do catch him it will take off (pun intended).
The kids are getting back on the bus when Rosa, Amy and Gina change her opinion. Ray, Jake and Charles land in a field where the sheriff tells them D'Angelo's house is right beyond the trees. The Trio (along with the tactical squad) enter a barn where D'Angelo's body is found. Jake phones the hospital and finds out Reggie has escaped leaving Ray enraged. After reconciling with Jake he reveals that gay cops didn't get a lot of good cases back in his day and that he blew his last chance to prove himself to Wuntch. The trio then get in the chopper and pursue Bludsoe. Terry finds out that Cagney and Lacey got off the wait list and thanks Gina, Amy and Rosa and reveals to Gina that they nicknamed her "Spring Dance Princess". In the coffee shop basement Ray, Charles and Jake bust Bludsoe and find the safe with the stolen $21 million. Back at the station Jake and Charles get photographed in front of the recovered stolen cash while Ray almost believes Wuntch is impressed with him, Jake and Charles recovering the stolen cash but after noticing she isn't annoyed or angry realises she wants him to leave the Nine-Nine and become head of the "NYPD Public Relations". Jake calls a distressed Ray in and the two pose back to back.
