Chief Davis Garmin is the Chief of Detectives for the NYPD who presumable replaces Chief Fisker (as seen in The Jimmy Jab Games). He has the power to overrule police captains.

Season Three[]
In The Funeral, Jake and Amy plan to play a recording of The Vulture telling her to dump him. Meaning that Jake could keep his job. This backfires when Pembroke finds out their plan.
In The Oolong Slayer, Jake makes the successful arrest of the Oolong slayer. He takes the case to Chief Garmin, who had attempted to solve the case for a long time and failed. Jake tells him that it would be embarrassing for Garmin if people found out that Jake had solved the case so easily and tells him that Garmin could get the credit. Garmin asks him what he wants such as his own "do group" (formerly called "task force"). Jake instead asks him for Ray Holt and Gina Linetti to their old posts at The 99th Precinct which he agrees to.
Personality[]
Garmin is shown to be fair as Jake believed that he would help reinstate Holt. However, He also is shown to be open to bargaining and possible even slight bribery as he agrees to reinstate Holt and Gina if he gets the credit for the case of the Oolong slayer.
Trivia[]
- He presumable replaced Chief Fisker although it is possible the two are meant to be the same person due to their similarities in appearance despite their different names.
- The Chief of Detectives is a three star rank, however, Garmin's uniform only has two stars.
